At home in our dining room
My Artweeks display in 2018 was based around the Urban show at WOA the previous month.
The cohesion of the work and the tight theme, and the availability of the On The Ground photobook proved to be the right decision – I sold a large amount of work. And this was also, in large part, because I was stood there all day for the whole eight days (11am to 6pm) explaining what it was all about. If you engage with potential buyers, they will buy.

I was one of six photographers exhibiting at West Ox Arts in Bampton, Oxfordshire.
My contribution to the exhibition was a group of photographs that were part of a set that I took in New York during a single afternoon in the heat and humidity of thunderstorm. As the rain fell, I was more and more engaged in what I could see on the ground. The water and light intensified colour and contrast, and what I was experiencing at my feet was at once saturated, vibrant and energetic.
I used the exhibition to launch my first self-published photobook, On The Ground.

A range of my favourite images displayed in vintage gilt frames.
My vintage framing concept was inspired by Elton John’s “The Radical Eye” show at the Tate that I’d only just been to see. I liked the incongruity of strong, abstract images in gilt frames. It sort of worked as I sold a few.

An exhibition of very ordinary photographs of Bampton (Oxfordshire) hosted by Bampton Community Archive. The whole thing was an antidote to “Downton Abbey Bampton” and very much avoids ‘chocolate box’ images. I always hoped that tourists would buy it.
Accompanied by a photobook inspired by Uncommon Places by Stephen Shore.

An exhibition I co-curated with my fellow exhibitors, the poet, broadcaster, biographer and playwright Simon Rae, and the acclaimed artist, David Inshaw.
The exhibition featured my photography, David Inshaw oils and photography, and a poem specifically written for the event by Simon.
And if that wasn’t enough, the exhibition was accompanied by a very rare performance of Simon’s play, The Pillbox, in Bampton village hall.
