The influence of movies on my work

I love movies. Films. I make time to watch them. I go to the cinema as often as I can because it’s better than watching films on TV. I often feel the need, the desire, to reach for my camera when I’m watching, of have just watched, a film. It’s often intangible to me why I get the feeling though.

Two movies that immediately came to mind when I started thinking about my filmic influences were Alphaville by Jean-Luc Godard (1965), and La Jetee by Chris Marker (1962). There are others, but these are the ones that have most impacted how my photographs look. I first saw both of them in the 80s when I was photographing as much as I could, and as often as possible.
