The image is the view through the windscreen of the landscape near Ullapool from a recent trip around Scotland. It was raining; it was moody; it was cold and blustery. When we parked up I couldn’t resist taking the photograph of the view through the window; focusing on the raindrops was a natural thing to do. You can just see the vertical wires from the heated windscreen.
It’s part of a series called tween The Two that deals with layers, windows, and barriers. What we can and can’t see. What’s hidden, what’s visible and what’s obscured. I’ve made a handmade book of some of the images in the series.
All my work is based on original 35mm negatives and I print photogravures to keep as much of the process of producing a physical print in the analogue domain as possible.
